About Horoscopes Today
Editorial policy
What we publish, how it is produced and what it is not. This page describes the site as it works today.
What we publish
Horoscopes Today publishes a daily horoscope for each of the 12 zodiac signs and articles in its Astrology section. The articles follow the real sky: full and new Moons, eclipses, the Sun’s entry into each sign, planets changing signs, retrograde periods, plus a few seasonal formats (the week ahead, the month ahead, the Moon over the weekend) and guides to the signs. Everything is written in American English for readers in the United States, and every date and time is given for New York (Eastern Time).
Who signs the articles
Horoscopes and articles are signed Susan Nicols, the editorial byline of the site. The role is editorial. We do not present Susan Nicols as a professional astrologer, and we do not claim diplomas, certifications or years of practice for anyone.
How the sky facts are produced
Moon phases, eclipses, the Sun’s entry into the signs, equinoxes and solstices, planets changing signs and retrograde periods are calculated with an open-source astronomy library, converted to New York time, and checked against published data: Moon phases and seasons against the U.S. Naval Observatory, eclipses against NASA, retrograde dates against published ephemerides. An article may only quote a date, a time or a sign position that comes from these tables; an automated check compares every date, time, weekday and sign mentioned in a draft with them before publication.
How the articles are written
A planning program picks the subjects from the calendar of upcoming sky events and the US calendar, avoiding topics the site has already covered. Each article starts from a brief that lists only verified facts, the angle, a plan and our style rules. Drafts are written with the help of AI writing tools, under these rules.
Before anything is published, automated checks review the draft:
- facts: dates, clock times, weekdays, signs, retrogrades and solar houses against the calculated tables;
- headlines: length, no clickbait wording, no capital letters for effect, and a promise the article actually keeps;
- tone: no promises about money, love, health or luck, no fear-based wording, and none of the clichés on our list;
- structure and length: clear sections, readable paragraphs, notes for each sign when the format calls for them;
- originality: no large overlap with articles or horoscopes already on the site;
- links: only to pages of the site that exist.
A draft that fails a check is rewritten once; if it still fails, it is not published. There is no human astrologer reviewing each article: the checks are automated, and the rules behind them are set and maintained by the site’s editors.
Images
Article and horoscope images are illustrations drawn by our own code from the computed sky: constellations, the Moon at its real phase, planets and their paths. They contain no photographs, no people and no faces, and they are not made with AI image generators.
Entertainment, not advice
Astrology is a cultural and symbolic tradition, not a science, and nothing on this site predicts events. Horoscopes and articles are offered for entertainment and reflection. They are not medical, legal, financial or psychological advice; for decisions in those areas, please talk to a qualified professional.
Dates and updates
The publication date of an article is the moment it became public. An “Updated” date appears only when the content changed in a meaningful way, never for a cosmetic edit. When an error is found, the article is corrected and its updated date changes.
Advertising
The site is free to read and is funded by display advertising served by Google. Advertising never influences the choice of subjects or the content of an article, and no article is sponsored.
